State-of-the-Art tools and equipment are nice to have, but without the proper gray matter, 42 would not be Colorado’s Ultimate Answer. Scroll down and meet our staff.
Pete Coggan
Producer, Director, DP, Technical Consultant, CG Supervisor, and disciple of the Adams theory of quantum mechanics. Most importantly the fearless leader behind 42 productions. Click on the link below to read a more detailed bio.
Chris Cavanaugh
Chris is a transplanted Floridian who’s two great passions are filmmaking and football. He graduated from CU with the assistance of two CU Film Studies grants and an undergraduate research grant. In 2005 Chris was awarded the Boulder Community Media Award for Innovation. While not blessed with Jay Cutler’s skill or physique, Chris still made sure his weekends were spent on the football field. While a CU student he was a member of the Ralphie Runners, leading the Buffalo Mascot onto the field before each game. As a member of the 42 staff, Chris is completing his next award winning project, “The Herd”.
Andrew Ratzlaff
A graduate of the University of Colorado Film Studies program, Andrew is also a voracious snowboarder and connoisseur of eclectic music. He got his start in the industry living out of a suitcase while working on the Warren Miller ‘Off the Grid’ film tour. After putting the suitcase away, Andrew settled into an ergonomic chair at 42 Productions. Since then he has edited TV shows, commercial spots, music videos and an array of corporate video. When Andrew is not busily editing a tour de force, you’ll find him shredding the fresh pow of the Rockies.
Jen Schweizer
After her 3rd victory lap, Jen is finally ready to graduate from the University of Colorado-Denver. As a Music Business major she has experienced many exciting adventures, her most recent being an internship with the Recording Academy (the GRAMMY folks) in Nashville. Jen’s experience also includes work with Clear Channel and the international music publishing company, BUG Music. Her next adventure (besides working with the crew at 42) is planning her wedding. One day she hopes to find the “cure” for P2P filesharing.
Brad Wollmann
Rick Gougler
Sam McGuire
Brad Wallace
Jed Mortenson
Paul Lee
Rick has been a member of the Front Range film community since moving to Denver in 1979. Working as a colorist for the past 25 years Rick’s keen eyes and color sense have helped countless filmmakers complete projects in most every imaginable genre. From features and commercials to wildlife documentaries and avant-garde films. Rick has been part of 42’s brain trust and our Colorist since the beginning. As the tools of color correction have changed so has Rick. Evolving from Rank Cintel’s Colorgrade to the daVinci Renaissance then to Final Touch and now to Apple’s ‘Color’.
Sam is the Senior Audio Engineer at 42 Productions. Sam has worked on a myriad of projects that have aired both nationally and in the Front Range region. In 2006 he was part of a project team that was nominated for two Grammies. An experienced Logic Pro and ProTools user, Sam also uses Nuendo and Digital Performer. Whether the project calls for arranging, scoring, or simply good engineering, Sam has the experience and skills to get the job done. Along with engineering at 42 Productions, Sam is also on the faculty at the University of Colorado at Denver and is a Focal Press author.
Brad is always ready to travel and if a camera’s involved, all the better. He’s roamed 3 continents, 48 states, and 9 provinces. A recent addition to the 42 staff, Brad spent 14 years in the Washington, DC market before heading west. He’s worked on a variety of live events from sports, to conventions and press conferences, to concerts at the White House. NBC, BET, CNN, AT&T, CSC, NASA, HUD, and the Department of Defense are some of the organizations and corporations that Brad has worked with.
Our resident cycling expert. Brad is on the board of the American Cycling Association and has won 4 national cycling championships. He’s as adept with a camera on his shoulder as he is with a pedal under his foot. His list of credits includes: NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox, PBS, Discovery Channel, ESPN, and Comedy Central, as well as the US Department of Energy, the Colorado Ballet, Ball Areospace, IBM, and Sun.
Jed is the newest member of the 42 team. He began making movies at age ten and eventually graduated from the USC cinema school. He spent the early years of his career in Hollywood and has worked with the likes of James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd. In 2000, he produced and directed the independent feature North Beach. More recently he has completed HD projects for Silicon Graphics, Johnson & Johnson, Hyatt, and Fairmont Hotels.
Paul is fluent in Final Cut, Avid, Premiere, and Media 100 as well. He joined 42 in 2003 as a Smoke artist and has become 42’s editing czar and systems guru. He has worked on everything from beer commercials to feature films. Paul’s first job in the production industry was as a model builder at an effects shop. We think that Paul picked a good day to stop sniffing glue.
Caroline Coggan
Caroline is the co-founder and CEO of 42. A savvy business woman and investor, she gives the production staff room to be creative while maintaining a firm grasp on the finances. Prior to starting 42, she was a limited partner in various venture capital investments and practiced environmental law at Los Angeles based McClintock Weston. Caroline is a graduate of Stanford University and received her J.D. from the University of Oregon where she served on the Law Review.
Nicole Kirlin & Kara Ketzenbarger
More well traveled members of the 42 staff. Our production assistants, Nicole and Kara, recently returned from an extended tour of South America.
